Using External or Network Storage with CaptureGem
CaptureGem lets you choose recording storage locations in Settings. Finished videos, temporary media, retained source, and metadata can use different paths. A fast archive volume does not help if the temporary volume is full or unavailable.
Before recording to an external disk or network share, verify that the path is mounted, writable, and has enough free space. Make a short test recording, let it finish, and play the file. Network and removable storage can disconnect or stall; preserve any unfinished local source files if that happens.
For a separate archive, copying verified finished files from local storage can be easier to troubleshoot than recording directly to an unreliable share. Confirm the destination copies before changing local retention. See file locations and backups.
