Organizing and Archiving CaptureGem Recordings

CaptureGem stores finished recordings under its configured video folder. Check Settings for the actual folder; the default is videos/out beneath the active data directory. The data directory and recording folder can both differ from the default.
Keep source and finished files separate
Use CaptureGem’s Review tab to identify finished recordings before moving or copying them into an archive. Temporary segments and retained source files can be needed for recovery after an interrupted recording or failed conversion. Do not treat them as disposable sidecars.
For an external archive, choose a folder layout that works for you, such as site and model. Keep the original filenames unless you have verified that a renamed copy still plays and that any associated metadata remains traceable. CaptureGem does not provide a filename-template setting that automatically inserts resolution or custom variables.
Verify before clearing local storage
Copy a small sample first, play the destination files, and compare file sizes or hashes. Keep the source until the entire transfer and backup have been checked. A copy or sync command finishing without an error does not prove every video is usable. See recording locations and backup guidance.
