Keeping a Linux recording machine reliable
The Linux CaptureGem desktop app needs a graphical session. CaptureGem also supports running its bundled recorderd without the desktop on Linux x86_64; see the official standalone Linux guide. The standalone daemon’s HTTP and proxy ports do not authenticate requests and must be blocked from untrusted networks before a service is enabled.
Keep the operating system and app updated through their normal channels, use a local account you control, and restrict access to recordings and saved site credentials. For a desktop session, keep the computer awake when monitoring streams, check recording folders for free space, and inspect the app after restarts. For a standalone daemon, use the official guide’s firewall and local-control instructions.
