Archiving Finished CaptureGem Recordings
CaptureGem writes finished recordings to its configured video folder. It does not provide a hooks.yaml file or an on_recording_finished hook for automatically moving files to cloud storage.
If you use an external archive tool such as rclone, configure it separately and point it only at finished, verified recordings. Avoid scanning a folder that may still contain an active output file. Start with a copy, not a move or delete, and keep the local source until you have checked the destination’s file count, sizes, and playback. See recording locations before choosing a source folder.
Protect storage credentials using that tool’s recommended credential handling, and review the provider’s current pricing and retention settings before committing a large library. Avoid automatic deletion rules until you have a tested backup and a clear retention policy. Temporary segments and retained source are recovery material, not ordinary archive inputs.
