Backing Up CaptureGem Settings

CaptureGem keeps its model list and settings in config.json in the active data directory. It does not use a customer profiles.json file, a Settings → Profiles import screen, or per-profile GPU configurations.
Back up before moving machines
Close CaptureGem, find the active data directory, and copy config.json to a safe private location. The active path can be overridden with CAPTUREGEM_DATA_DIR; older macOS or Windows installs can use a legacy directory. Check the app logs before choosing a file. See file locations.
Back up recordings and any unfinished or retained source media separately. Their paths may be customized in Settings. A copied configuration can contain account passwords, session cookies, authentication headers, service tokens, a license key, model names, and private paths. Treat the raw config.json backup as a secret: keep it in private storage and never share or upload it. For support, describe the problem without sending the file. On a new machine, restore only after backing up its current configuration, then inspect paths in Settings and verify a short recording.
