Post-processing Finished CaptureGem Recordings
CaptureGem already performs the capture and finalization needed for its supported streams. For a separate post-processing workflow, start with a finished, playable recording and create a new output file. Do not have an external script watch and rewrite temporary segments while CaptureGem is still recording.
A common workflow is to inspect the source with a media probe, run an FFmpeg operation on a copy, then verify duration, audio, and representative frames of the result. A successful command exit by itself is not enough to prove the output is complete. Keep the original until the new file passes your checks and is backed up.
If CaptureGem reports a failed conversion, preserve temporary and retained source files and use its recovery guidance first. Do not automatically delete them or blindly concatenate segments: some streams have discontinuities, different timing, or missing fragments. See troubleshooting and video files.
