Planning Reliable Storage for Recordings
Large recording libraries need enough free space, predictable write performance, and a way to recover from disk failure. Start by measuring the size of your own finished recordings and temporary files over several sessions; stream bitrate and duration vary by site.
A mirrored or parity array can keep a storage system available after some drive failures, but it is not a backup. Accidental deletion, corruption, theft, and configuration mistakes can affect the whole array. Keep a separate verified copy of important finished recordings and test recovery before relying on it.
For CaptureGem, check both finished-video and temporary destinations. They may be on different volumes. Test a short recording on the intended storage path, confirm finalization and playback, and watch free space while scaling up.
