Automation and recording events: current options

CaptureGem can start recordings automatically when a supported stream is available if the model uses Record Always or Record With Expiry. Monitor Always watches without saving a finished video. The desktop app does not expose configurable on_start or on_stop hooks, a Discord webhook field, or a script command placeholder. Do not put a webhook URL or shell command into a guessed config.json setting.
A reliable workflow
- Add the model and choose Record Always or Record With Expiry in its Auto Record control, if available under your plan.
- Choose the output and temporary folders in Settings, with enough free space for both.
- Inspect the finished video in the app before any external post-processing. An interrupted recording may still be converting or waiting for recovery.
- If you want notifications or an external script, configure that in a separate tool that watches finalized files. Make it tolerate retries and duplicate file-system events, and keep the original video until the result is verified.
