Hotkeys & Workflow: How to Record Without Breaking Flow
The best recording setup is the one that doesn’t pull you out of the moment.
CaptureGem overview + downloads: https://www.capturegem.com/
The goal: one-tap control
If CaptureGem supports hotkeys, configure at least:
- Start recording
- Stop recording
- Pause/resume (optional)
- Mark a moment (optional)
Then practice once or twice so your hands do it without thinking.
Build a “pre-flight” ritual
Before you go live:
- Open CaptureGem
- Confirm capture target
- Confirm audio sources
- Start a 5–10 second test
- If good: start the real recording
This takes 30 seconds and saves you hours.
Reduce mistakes with simple rules
- Don’t change capture targets mid-session
- Don’t open random windows while recording full desktop
- Stop + rename immediately
A naming convention that scales
Try:
YYYY-MM-DD_platform_topic_notes
Example:
2026-02-27_siteA_evening_session_highenergy
Boring? Yes. Useful? Extremely.
